DBR has just sold the domain name LGT.com.au for $120,000 AUD.
We spent 20 months on behalf of our client negotiating the sale of the domain name to the ultimate buyer.
As a bit of history for the domain investor community, initial offers started at $7,500, with quite forceful language, including talks to our client that they “weren’t using the domain name” and this initial offer would be a good amount of money to take for the domain “rather than spend money on lawyers”.
We were ready to help our client defend an auDRP submission, if required, (just as we had successfully done for Hancock.com.au recently), however, calmer heads prevailed and we were able to continually communicate and find mutual ground and respect to ensure everyone was happy in the end.
The Direct .au version of the domain name went along with it.
We believe because the new owners owned the existing “.com” version of their brand, they wanted to ensure they met cyber security standards and didn’t lose traffic and emails to the “.com.au” version of their international domain name and brand. That’s a smart move and a reasonable amount of money to ensure their online presence is locked down.
Congratulations to the seller and buyer.
If you’re keen on getting a domain name deal done properly, whether buying or selling, be sure to consider DBR Digital Assets and Domain Brokers. We love finding the best home for quality domain names.

Was it $120,000 + gst = $132,000 ?
or $120,000 total
Finally CORRS LAWYERS are being smarter for their clients.
Instead of losing an AUDRP domain complaint and never getting the name they got it at a cheap price considering their client is massive.
CORRS would have billed the buyer over $100,000 trying to get the name and lost the AUDRP anyway. CORRS lawyers usually charge $1100 to $3000 an hour of their time plus plus plus!
LGT.com are wealth management dealing in $millions and $billions. A smart buy for them
It’s funny how partners at CORRS lawyers make $millions a year each personally but still try to haggle like they are at a Bali market over assets..
Clearly LGT did the smart thing for their Australian expansion and got the local Aussie preferred lgt.com.au and lgt.au to match their LGT.com
Good sale. Drop in the bucket for the buyer.
Need more SME deals to be made public. I’ve seen and heard of plenty 6 figure offers made by small companies even solo operators.
This is a good example of when to sell vs when not to sell
breaks my heart when I see domain owners sell a great name for $20k or $30k, when reality is if they just said no and kept it they’d land fix figures like this
its all about mindset – if you don’t need to sell then you can hold out 10 even 15 years if you need to
new businesses are born every day
marketing managers, directors and decision-makers change every day
the trend towards generic .com.au intensifies every day
number plates, car spaces and marina berths used to be cheap. As time passes and the market matures, you get that incredible uplift in later years.
Outdoes the published sale of OPS.com.au for more than $88,000 AUD (ie. $58,497 USD) in December
