I’m currently defending an auDRP against a major corporation attempting to steal a four-letter acronym domain name. Major, as in, they are a $1 Billion US international corporation who exist in over 70 countries. Still, I’d never heard of them until they came clawing for the domain. They might want to hire a better marketing company with all that money.
Instead of offering to buy the domain name for a realistic current market price, they’ve decided to make complaint after complaint after complaint, hire and fire multiple lawyers, until now they’re spending tens of thousands of dollars more on submitting an auDRP.
How do you think that’s going to turn out for them?

Powerlink Queensland is an Australian government-owned corporation that maintains Queensland’s electricity network. They profit over $100 million per year, profit.
In 2011, they decided to attempt to hijack the domain name PQ.net.au from a small family business owner, instead of paying a reasonable market value price for it.
Thank goodness for common sense, THEY LOST!

Moral of the story is STILL; all the good domain names are taken. If you want a good domain name, you HAVE TO PAY FOR IT!
I had to look into that company to discover that they were owned by the sporting giant. I’ve never heard of them even though they’ve apparently been around for a long time.

Yep, I said at the time I had never heard of them, I have asked dozens of people if they’ve ever heard of them, and not one person has.
Thank goodness we are on the home stretch here with some massive much-needed policy changes coming to this industry.
