On Monday 7th March I awoke early to find some outliers on my twitter discussing buying a rare NFT at auction involving an exploded Lamborghini.
I’ve never really liked Lamborghinis so I figured it may be cool to own an NFT of one that had been blown up, so I joined the auction at about 2 hours left.
Low and behold I was successful in acquiring one of the 888 NFTs, which I am still to receive over the coming days. I’m not sure which piece I’ve managed to purchase yet. I’ll be sure to comment below once I’ve received my piece of lambo.
The project was conducted by a digital artist going by the name of Shl0ms and Fortune Magazine wrote, “The artist, who works under the pseudonym Shl0ms, blew up a used Lamborghini Huracan, which can range from $200,000 to $300,000, on Feb. 2. Shl0ms said the car was taken to an undisclosed desert location in the U.S. and blown up by a federally licensed explosives engineer after two weeks of testing explosions.”
There were 1784 bidders, each bidding .412 wETH ($1450 AU) on average for a limited slice of the blown up lambo.
All in all, the project raised around $2.8 million AU.
I’ll be sure to update you guys on how much my 1/888 piece of lambo is worth over the coming months on various NFT marketplaces and what I plan on doing with it.
If I stay true to Shl0ms wishes, I’ll keep it as a souvenir and not succumb to “greed and short-termism in crypto”.
mate the floor price already seems to be triple what you paid and it’s not even properly launched yet
