The domain name Lambo.com.au was set to drop yesterday, on Melbourne Cup Day 2019, which is a public holiday in the state of Victoria.
However, at the last minute, for no publicly valid reason, it appears auDA issued an order to Afilias Australia to place Lambo.com.au into “Reserved By Registry” status.
From our understanding, a domain name can only be LOCKED at the Afilias Registry level if it appears on the official auDA Reserved List Policy.
On looking at this extensive list today, the generic term “Lambo” does not appear on this list anywhere?
I will be contacting auDA and Afilias Australia to explain how and why Lambo.com.au was placed into Registry Lock at the last minute, which stopped the fair domain name dropping process.
In the interests of full disclosure; I can confirm I was bidding for this particular domain name myself and I can also confirm I was the highest bidder at Drop.com.au and Netfleet.com.au(.)
If this situation has occurred in this instance, how many times in the past has it also occurred? And how many times in the future is this going to occur?
Story developing…
The perks of the job, as is with those sitting behind the screens of domain name drop sites. Bid manipulation? Insider Trading? These are not new traits of that via the dark side of human nature. Who would ever believe that our police forces would have corruption within? Greed and cheating has allowed some of the worlds most powerful people get to the top in order they can dictate their terms and then call it politics, within a democratic society.
Hi Robert,
I believe this guy, AUDA-CHARLES/Charles Handmer/Highland Group Pty Ltd (ABN 15135488176), has some good profits in doing such actions.
I bid on another domain name this week, sendme.com.au, and it showed the same “Reserved By Registry” message!
Now both lambo.com.au and sendme.com.au are under the ownership of the same person.
Gino mentioned right words about these kind of people.
AuDA is no longer a reliable one.
Peace
Pedro
Today Devonport.com.au was PD and didn’t drop either. This was because the owner was never informed his domain name was about to drop until it appeared on the drop list. It too was taken out of PD at the last minute.
It seems auDA’s methods and procedures need updating, to save PD domain names that are being dropped without the owners being informed!
One thing’s for certain, these names should NOT be getting placed into “Registry Lock” at the last minute… auDA systems are clearly not working properly.
That being said, there’s no CEO or Chairman… Seems like one or two people over there are having to take on the roles of a few people at once…
SO many questions at the moment…
These sort of issues bring in to question if auDA has the capability to regulate the industry.
Registrars appear to live by their own rules and registrants pay the price. Nothing will change.
I offer my Consulting services at the usual AuDA mates Consulting Stipend rates of $3,000,000 to help auDA look into this ..
Red.com.au went into PD, and then was pulled out at the last few minutes yesterday. This is happening A LOT.
