apartments.com.au sale sold

Apartments.com.au SOLD by DBR Digital Assets

Apartments.com.au has sold for a record-breaking price, possibly making the Top 5 Australian domain names sales OF ALL TIME, and definitely making the Top 10 of all time.

DBR Digital Assets (DBR.com.au) were already working on the exclusive brokerage of the domain before the recent sale of Homes.com.au for millions of dollars to the massive American company CoStar.

Many domain investors have been contacting us over the past few weeks, asking about the recent change of ownership of Apartments.com.au(.)

Today the Australian Financial Review publicised the sale stating:

“The big URL buy was brokered by Ed Keay-Smith, senior domain broker at DBR Digital Assets.

“Apartments.com.au is without question a top-10 domain sale in Australia,” he said. “It belongs in the same tier as Bitcoin.com.au and Money.com.au.”

Australian cryptocurrency exchange Independent Reserve bought Bitcoin.com.au for $3 million in 2023.”

We interviewed Domenic Carosa, Founder & Chairman of Banxa.com, on his sale of Bitcoin.com.au back in 2022. You can watch that here.

The company that owns Urban.com.au engaged DBR Digital Assets to purchase the Apartments.com.au domain name, after DBR was successful in acquiring Urban.com.au for them many years ago for nearly $60,000 (as shown in Top Domain Sales). They had to pay a lot more than that this time.

It was a tough deal and took many months to get over the line, but Darren Pateman, the seller of Apartments.com.au and the former managing director of West Australian developer Finbar Group, was a pleasure to deal with and eventually we were able to ensure all parties were happy with the acquisition.

As mentioned in the AFR, the sale of Apartments.com.au was a cash-and-equity deal.

If you’re looking to buy or sell your ideal domain name, get in contact with DBR Domain Brokerage today to ensure your dreams come true, at the right price.

Congratulations Rob. I routinely refer brokerage requests to you as other things take up my time. Keen to know what it sold for

Darren Pateman

Well done gents.

Troy

Congrats Darren, can you please tell us approximately what the cash vs equity split was? eg. 90% cash 10% equity?

Troy

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again:

Top 5 PUBLISHED sales

There are many sales in the 6 and 7 figure range that aren’t on the record due to NDAs or simply seller/buyer choice not to make public.

Sheen

to hell with the percentage split Darran. how much did you sell this awesome domain for?

David

Darran / Rob / Ed, can you please make this one public?

Would be great to add to the Assets Top Sales list!

OR even at least give us an indication like “More than $500,000” so that it can be added to the list at “$500,000+”

This is what was done with HomeLoan.com.au, which went for “$100,000+”

Amy

Urban.com.au most people would think streetwear or urban planning, not apartments – no brainer! Why don’t they announce the price? What are they afraid of
