Australia’s Domain Name Policy Reform and Direct “.au” Implementation Plan is HERE!
Toward the end of this year, auDA intends to launch Direct .AU Registration in the Australian domain name space.
This means you will be able to register domain names in .AU directly (such as “example.au” as opposed to “example.com.au“).
Under the proposed eligibility rules, a registrant of a .AU domain name must simply have an “Australian Presence” whilst COM.AU and NET.AU domain names will see more flexibility in being able to be bought and sold.
The PRP’s final recommendations on existing policy changes, as well as Direct .AU Registration implementation is being voted-in by the auDA Board THIS FRIDAY 10TH MAY.
It’s important you have your say!
You can get up to speed on your own by reading auDA’s PUBLIC COMMENT…
Or,
You can SUBMIT YOUR SAY the easy way, by using the VOTE.COM.AU submission form.
I honestly can’t see our comments or votes making any difference, because auda will do whatever it wants. Previous attempts by many members have proven to be a waste of effort.
is that only .com.au owner is eligible to get the .au or even .net.au owner can apply at the same time, and they .com.au and .net owners fight to get the domain?
That’s right Emma, if your domain name is an exact match to another namespace like net, org, then you will battle it out between yourselves. If it’s not settled, the proposed rules state, you will be charged an yearly fee to stay in the fight until someone gives up. It’s unfair, vote against it and hit submit.
Also, there’s isn’t any end to how long this application will continue and no one knows what the fee will be?
So how can anyone possibly allow this policy provision to go through if you don’t know what auDA will charge you and how long it takes.
You could be paying auDA for many years to come over a domain you may never use or receive, and if you were to transfer your domain, the application is forfeited. A whole bunch of money down the drain and a waste of time.
Nearly 100 Votes from Vote.com.au have been submitted to auDA in the last 24 hours.
This is a massive moment for the Australian domain name space!
TIME IS RUNNING OUT!
Head over to Vote.com.au – read the letter to auDA and if you AGREE, fill out your details and hit submit!!
Non transferable Application Rights
The application rights for .au are forfeited when you perform a change of registrant, do you think that’s fair?
You should be allowed to transfer your application rights to a third party.
You should be allowed to sell or transfer your domain with the attaching option to the buyer or any third party.
Vote to be allowed to transfer your application rights to anyone.
