Afilias sent staff to Australia to assist AusRegistry with their registry code and DNS software, and was a shareholder of AusRegistry until its acquisition by Neustar in 2015. It seems that AusRegistry portrays itself as a small, local business when it’s convenient, but intersperses this with the global might of its parent company, Neustar, which is in actual fact a large US-based company.Afilias’ full response can be found here. Afilas respond to AusRegistry’s “Setting The Record Straight”
Afilias have officially responded to AusRegistry’s “Setting The Record Straight” post from last week.
Most notably, Afilias write:
Received “access denied” when following your link to mentioned blog post.
I can see that Ishmail – thanks – Afilias seem to have taken down their publicly posted article within 30 minutes of Domainer posting it.
Luckily we made a screenshot for all to see, we have updated above.
It seems rather odd that the new provider keeps spewing these grandstanding claims of high-class service when in reality they have hardly impressed anyone yet.
All those involved in this industry know fully well that the issue with the last regime was never service delivery. It has been a long established fact that their reputation for service and delivery was second to none. So this makes me believe the writer is extremely biased or is new and has no idea of the real history of the AU name space.
This back and forth is incredibly pointless; this is not a trivial game but country infrastructure at stake! And if the new registry really wanted to impress, they would begin by investing their money on better service and quality staff hires rather than on spin-doctors!
Just an opinion, no PR response required J
The real issue is the registrars
Only one company I am aware of recognises the new renewal periods
Another newer entrant to the market can’t even process account transfers within its own portal
These are the same companies that want a new ccTLD
